Western Colorado Rookie

Hey guys, i too am new to the club, and western colorado( rifle), and prospecting. I tried to find gold just briefly on the northern most delores claim and just barely caught some flour gold. I haven't seen any claim markers except the numbered PVC posts. So I'm just curious how and where to find the gold?

The gold I've found is fine to small flakes. The best time to hit the river is outside the summer tourist season, when the river is kept high by lake discharge for the kayak & rafting businesses. This stops around mid Aug and the river drops considerably and you have access to the lower gold bearing gravel/sand.
